2017 Kia Cadenza Hailed One of Safest Cars on the Road

The 2017 Kia Cadenza is not only one of the most reliable family cars on the blacktop, but according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it is also one of the safest.

The IIHS has awarded the Cadenza its highest safety award possible, the Top Safety Pick Plus, when it is equipped with the front crash prevention option and specific headlights.

“The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is one of the most respected organizations in the industry when it comes to evaluating vehicle safety, and this designation is a great achievement that speaks to Kia’s commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, KMA. “We are proud that the Cadenza received across-the-board good crashworthiness ratings, which is another testament to the efforts of our engineers and the integrity of our vehicles.”

To become a Top Safety Pick+, each vehicle must acquire “good” ratings in five tests to determine crash worthiness. The IIHS is looking specifically at impact to the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, the side, roof strength and head restraints. It must also get “advanced” or “superior” marks for front crash prevention and an “acceptable” or “good” headlight rating.

Available safety features on the 2017 Cadenza include Kia’s first application of the Smart Blind Spot Detection System, Advanced Smart Cruise Control, a Forward Collision Warning System, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and a Lane Departure Warning System.
